PROVISIONAL APPOINTMENT:

*Permanent appointment requires successful completion, and placement, thru the Civil Service examination process.

This work involves performing civil engineering studies necessary for the development, upkeep, 
and improvement of County infrastructure. Responsibilities may include design, development and implementation of projects involving bridge and road construction, waste management, and traffic engineering. Supervision is exercised over subordinate engineering department personnel. This position differs from that of a Civil Engineer by virtue of expanded scope and level of responsibility. Work is performed under general direction of the Director of Engineering with wide latitude allowed for use of independent judgment in carrying out technical aspects of the work. A Senior Civil Engineer does related work as required.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 
Graduation from regionally accredited or New York State-registered college or university with baccalaureate degree in engineering; four years’ practical engineering experience; and possession of a license and current registration issued by the New York State Education Department to practice as a professional engineer.

Bridge Project Manager, Buffalo, NY

Bergmann is seeking to add a full time Bridge Project Manager to our Buffalo Office to oversee the design of highway, rail and pedestrian bridge projects for public and private sector clients as well as perform business development activities.

 

The ideal candidate would have the following minimum qualifications:

  • BS in structural engineer

  • 8 years of relevant experience

  • Licensed NYS Professional Engineer

  • Established business network with State and/or Municipal clients, Contractors as well as familiarity with the Federal-Aid and/or LAFA project processes.

  • Ability to manage bridge projects and lead multi-disciplinary teams to meet schedule, budget and quality

  • Ability to identify, pursue through proposal process and win work

  • Ability to work remotely with team members in other offices

  • Familiarity with construction engineering and/or railroad bridges a plus

Bridge Design Engineer (Entry thru Mid-Level), Buffalo, NY

Bergmann is seeking to add full time Design Engineers in our recently remodeled Buffalo Office to participate in the design of highway, rail and pedestrian bridge projects for public and private sector clients from scoping through construction phases. Transportation Engineer

C&S is currently expanding their transportation practice in western New York. As part of this growth, they are planning to add a full time transportation engineer to their Rochester office.

They are looking for a motivated individual with a concentration in either highway or bridge design. This position will mostly include plan production on public sector transportation projects. Duties will include roadway layout using design programs, grading plans, traffic sign and pavement marking design, traffic analysis, traffic signal analysis and design, bridge design and detailing, report writing and estimating. The qualified candidate will work closely with senior engineers on a wide range of civil engineering projects. The candidate must have the ability to learn quickly.

Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering with transportation/bridge emphasis from an accredited engineering program. 

  • EIT or ability to obtain EIT, and intent to pursue a professional engineering license

  • 0-5 years' experience in the design of highway/bridge projects.

  • Independent and be able to progress a design with assistance.

  • Contract document (plans, specifications, and estimate) preparation and general knowledge of design support construction administration.

  • Experience with Microstation/AutoCad.

  • Experience with Inroads/Civil 3-D is a plus. 

  • Must have strong written and oral communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

  • The ability to work in a professional and interdisciplinary team environment is also required.

  • General knowledge of NYSDOT standards.
