Submission Guidelines
The Western New York Chapter of the Association for Bridge Construction and Design would like to announce our 2008 Bridge Design Awards program. The Board of Directors has established criteria for nominating local bridge projects for annual recognition. The awards will be made at the Annual End-ofYear Meeting held in May at the Red Osier Landmark Restaurant.
This year, two (2) main awards and two (2) honorable mentions will be presented for the selected projects in recognition of the Owner, Engineer, and Contractor. The criteria for the main awards will be:
- Bridge Cost - Under $1,000,000.
- Bridge Cost - Over $1,000,000.
We are requesting nominations from the membership for the following recognition in both of the above mentioned categories: Outstanding new or rehabilitated single or multi-span structure opened to traffic in calendar year 2009.
Please include the following supporting documentation with each award nomination to permit proper evaluation of nominees:
- A written narrative description of the project (one paragraph) identifying specific reasons for award consideration (i.e., construction technique, schedule, cost, site conditions, unique application of current technology, etc.);
- Two or more 4"x 6" representative color photographs;
- One or more 8" x 10" color photographs for award purposes;
- One or more half-size (11"x 17") drawings or illustrative sketches;
- Listing of significant project features (3 page maximum);
- A minimum of two photographic digital images showing the completed works to the structure. Other images may be submitted depicting the existing structure or construction process. These shall be used by ABCD to present a slide show of submitted entries at the annual meeting in May.
