Association for Bridge Construction and Design - Western New York Chapter

The turn of the new year found the ABCD Western New York Chapter having two events planned. The first involved a monthly meeting at the Wishing Well in Rochester, NY on January 21. We would like to thank Chris Ligozio of the CTL Group for presenting a program entailing “Assessing and Extending the Service Life of Bridges.” 51 attendees learned from case histories in which CTL performed investigations of large substructure elements on existing bridges, then recommended various repairs and/or modifications to reduce future deterioration. On January 29, ABCD held a student outreach event with Rochester Institute of Technology. 47 attendees including students, faculty, members of the Western NY engineering community, and their families enjoyed the RIT Hockey game against the Bentley Falcons along with a pregame party at the CAST Engineering Building. Attendees ate pizza, wings, and salad while discussing the engineering curriculum, possible opportunities, and RIT victory at the upcoming hockey game. The Tigers obliged and defeated the Falcons by a score of 4-1. ABCD appreciates the opportunity to reach out to RIT students and looks forward to a continuing relationship.
